My career has been steeped in medical student teaching, even during the years I served as the Medical Head of the Department of Family Medicine at Erie Family Health Center. The arrival of the McGaw Family Medicine Residency Program to our Federally Qualified Health Center—making us one of the inaugural Teaching Health Centers in the country—has re-energized my passion for teaching and re-directed my efforts to try to inspire young and impressionable medical students to consider Family Medicine as a career direction.
My clinical focus has gravitated toward the underserved Latino older adult population and the prevention and longitudinal management of diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemias, and chronic degenerative musculo-skeletal conditions..[Shorten text]
